# Reset Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step to signing in: a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. If you've lost access to that app, or got a new phone, you'll need your 2FA reset so you can set it up again.

You can't reset your own 2FA from your personal settings. Only the **owner** of your workspace can reset a member's 2FA. Admins can view a member's 2FA method but can't reset it. Once the owner resets it, you set up 2FA fresh the next time you log in.

### Before you start

* Know who the **owner** of your workspace is. If you're not sure, ask a workspace admin.
* Have your phone ready with an authenticator app (for example, Google Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy) so you can set up 2FA again after the reset.

### Steps

**If you need your 2FA reset**, ask your workspace owner to reset it for you.

**If you're the workspace owner** resetting 2FA for a member:

1. Select your profile picture in the top corner and choose **Settings**.
2. In the **Workspace** section, open **Members**.
3. Find the member in the list and open the actions menu (the **⋮** button) on their row.
4. Select **Reset 2FA**.
5. In the confirmation dialog, select **Reset**.

### What to expect

* After the reset, the member will be asked to set up 2FA again the next time they log in. This reset can't be undone.
* To set up 2FA again, open the Lisk app on your phone and, on the **Enable 2FA** screen, scan the QR code with your authenticator app (or enter the code shown), then continue and enter a 6-digit code to confirm.
* Once 2FA is set up again, you'll use a fresh code from your authenticator app each time you sign in.

### Troubleshooting

* **"I don't see a Reset 2FA option."** Only the workspace owner can reset another member's 2FA. Admins can view a member's 2FA method but can't reset it. If you're a member or an admin, ask the owner to do it.
* **"I'm locked out and can't reach anyone."** Contact your workspace owner or admin so they can reset your 2FA. You can review your current 2FA method under **Settings → Security**, but resets are handled by the owner.
