# Change Your Email Address

You can update the email address on your Lisk profile from your settings. To keep your account secure, you'll confirm the change with a code sent to your new email before it takes effect.

### Before you start

* Make sure you can access the inbox for the **new** email address, since you'll need to enter a code sent there.

### Steps

1. Select your profile picture in the top corner and choose **Settings**.
2. In the **Personal** section, open **My Profile**.
3. Next to **Email address**, select the edit button.
4. In the **Edit email address** dialog, type your new email and select **Update**.
5. On the **Enter confirmation code** screen, check your new inbox for a message with a code and enter the 6-digit code.
   * Didn't get it? Select **Resend**. The button becomes available again after a short countdown.

### What to expect

* Once you enter the correct code, the change is confirmed and the dialog closes on its own.
* Your new email address then shows on your **My Profile** page.
* Your email doesn't change until you've entered the verification code, so if you don't finish this step, your old email stays in place.

### Troubleshooting

* **"My code doesn't work."** Codes expire and can be used only once. Select **Resend** to get a new one and enter the most recent code.
* **"I didn't receive the code."** Check the spam folder for your new email address, wait a moment, then select **Resend**.
* **"The Update button is greyed out."** Make sure you've entered an email address that's different from your current one.
