# Legacy L1 LSK

FAQ regarding LSK tokens from the Lisk L1 legacy chain that weren't claimed on Lisk L2

### I held LSK on the Lisk L1 legacy chain and never claimed it. Can I still claim it?

The claim window closed on 21 May 2026. Legacy LSK can no longer be claimed or reimbursed.<br>

### Do these FAQ apply to me?

It applies if your LSK were held at an address in one of these formats:

| Format | Looks like | Used |
| ---------- | ---------------------------------------------- | ------------ |
| Legacy L1 | Numbers ending in L, for example 456938290123L | 2016 to 2021 |
| Updated L1 | 41 characters starting with lsk | 2021 to 2024 |

If your LSK are at an address starting with 0x, you are on the current Ethereum standard and this article does not apply to you.

### What happened to the Lisk L1 legacy chain?

Lisk moved from its own Layer 1 blockchain to an Ethereum Layer 2 in May 2024, and LSK became an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. A snapshot of all balances was taken at block height 24,823,618 on 21 May 2024. Every holder at that height could claim the same amount of LSK on the new network, one for one.

### How long did holders have to claim?

Two years, from 21 May 2024 to 21 May 2026. The claim window and the snapshot height were announced in April 2024, ahead of the snapshot.

### Can I still claim, or be reimbursed?

No. After the migration window expired on 21 May 2026, it is not possible, without any exception, to claim LSK tokens from the Lisk L1 legacy chain or to have them reimbursed in any kind or form. This applies regardless of the amount involved or the reason the claim was missed.

### How do I check whether I claimed?

If you hold LSK today in an Ethereum wallet or on an exchange account, your tokens were migrated. Most exchanges handled this automatically for balances held with them at the time of the snapshot.

If your LSK only ever sat in Lisk Desktop or the Lisk Migration Wallet, and you never signed and submitted a claim through the Lisk Portal, the claim was not completed.

### What happened to tokens that were never claimed?

Unclaimed tokens were transferred to the Lisk DAO treasury at the end of the claim period, as set out in the April 2024 migration announcement.

### Can I still see my old account data?

Historical data from the Lisk L1 legacy chain remains available through the [Lisk legacy chain service](https://docs.lisk.com/lisk-l1/legacy-chain-service). It is a record only and does not enable claiming.

### My LSK is on the Lisk L2 Chain right now. Is this the same thing?

No, and this one still has a deadline. The Lisk L2 Chain is shutting down on 31 October 2026. If you hold LSK, ETH, stablecoins, bridged assets or DeFi positions on the L2, [withdraw them](https://lisk.com/blog/posts/withdraw-assets-from-lisk-chain/) as soon as possible and no later than that date.

Start at least 11 days early. If you are staking, unlock your position first. A 3-day waiting period applies before you can unstake. Bridging to Ethereum then takes around 8 days. Claim any outstanding staking rewards before the shutdown too.
