# DAO Cessation

Everything you need to know regarding the Lisk DAO Cessation.

### The chain shutdown and the DAO

#### When is the Lisk Chain shutting down?

The Lisk Chain will shut down on 31 October 2026.

#### Why is the Lisk DAO being discontinued?

The Lisk DAO runs on the Lisk Chain, so closing it brings the DAO's work to a natural end.

#### How does this affect the governance infrastructure?

It winds down with the Lisk Chain. The Lisk Governance Forum and the DeGov voting integration will both be retired.

### Your staked LSK

#### What happens to my staked LSK?

You can unlock your position at any time, and unlocking is now penalty-free. The DAO proposal passed and the staking contract has been updated. We recommend starting soon, because getting your funds off the Lisk Chain takes a few steps. First you unlock your position, then after a 3-day waiting period you unstake it. Then you bridge your LSK to Ethereum, which takes around 8 days. Taken together, that means starting at least 11 days before the Chain shuts down on 31 October 2026. We recommend starting immediately. Claim any outstanding staking rewards before the shutdown too.

For the withdrawal, use the Lisk Bridge at [https://bridge.lisk.com](https://bridge.lisk.com/). It is the only bridge that still works. Make sure you bridge LSK to LSK, with Lisk on the top row and Ethereum on the bottom row, and LSK selected as the token on both. The [Lisk Chain Closure](/faq/lisk-chain-closure.md)FAQ walks through the process step by step. We will never ask for your seed phrase or private keys. Type bridge.lisk.com yourself rather than trusting a link from anyone else

### The DAO treasury

#### What will happen to the LSK tokens held in the Lisk DAO treasury?

With the DAO proposal passed, 100,000,000 LSK, a quarter of the total supply, has been burned, permanently reducing the supply of LSK to 300,000,000. ... The remaining balance of approximately 46,500,000 LSK has been transferred to Lisk Ltd.

### Programs and the Lisk DAO Fund

#### What is the Lisk DAO Fund?

Approved by the Lisk DAO in October 2025, the Lisk DAO Fund was a dedicated investment vehicle designed to move the DAO from grant-giving toward strategic investments that generate real upside for the LSK treasury. It launched with a 4,000,000 LSK budget, was managed by the team behind Superchain Eco, and backed teams via SAFEs and SAFTs, with proceeds intended to buy and burn LSK. In its first months, it made three investments: LovCash, Cr3dentials, and Jamit.

#### What will happen to the programs and initiatives started by the Lisk DAO?

Most of them wind down with the DAO, including the Lisk DAO seasons and the Lisk DAO Fund. The exception is liquidity. Lisk Ltd will take over the Arrakis vaults previously managed by the DAO and continue providing onchain liquidity on Ethereum, so LSK stays tradable with low price impact.

#### What is happening to the Fund?

The Lisk DAO Fund has closed ahead of its planned two-year run. As Lisk narrows fully to its new product, the DAO Fund team and Lisk jointly concluded that folding the Fund's resources and investments into Lisk's entities is the best path forward for the ecosystem, LSK holders, and the founders backed. The legal handover and closing were completed in May 2026. This is part of the broader DAO wind-down described in the announcement post.

#### What happens to the companies the Fund invested in?

LovCash, Cr3dentials, and Jamit moved to Onchain Ventures AG. They stay within the Lisk family.

#### What happens to the capital that wasn't invested?

All residual capital was returned to Lisk Ltd, minus early termination costs.
